My wife and I were priveleged to get a chance to have dinner on the N. Ark Railway during one of the first nights it was running in the spring of 2002. As a train enthusiast, this was a boyhood dream come true. Wonderful scenery, exceptionally courteous staff, and a magnificent train made this outstanding without the food. Ah, but the food! Big, tasty, first rate! Since there are two dishes offered, my wife had one, and I the other, both absolutely awesome! Then the desert: Baked Alaska, shaped like a locomotive! If you love fine dining in a casual atmosphere coupled with the setting of America's great railroad history you will love this! My wife and I can't wait to go back for our anniversary.``Oh, and if you do go, DON'T forget your camera!

The dining car was in perfect condition. The staff was excellent and the dinner was great but there was no scenery. We went about three miles through woods and then stopped by a creek for about an hour to eat dinner. The magic of a dinner train is the CHANGING scenery. Why stop to eat? I'm guessing the remainder of the route wasn't very scenic, hard to believe for the hills of the Ozarks. I enjoyed but was very disappointed that we stopped for so long, then took the short ride back to the depot.

Dinner was pricey..A train ride out 2 miles, eating by a bridge, then RETURNING TO THE STATION BACKWARDS!!!!Save your money for a great dinner in town..Head out to Durango & ride a REAL tourist train!!

Go with the ride in Van Buren, Ark. Lots of scenery..BUT if you're easily pleased, willing to settle, Go with Eureka Springs..This was certainly a BIG Let-down

My wife and I took the dinner train. It's not worth the money. You get on the train, go about 3 miles and the train stops for about an hour. You stop on a bridge where there is no scenery and then it goes back to the station. You could eat a good dinner in Eureka Springs for the money you spend on this train. Don't waste your money.
Rating : 4 star. Try this: Excursion ride is worth the money! , 15-Sep-2006

We did the Excursion, & it was worth $20! A gentleman gave us the history of the train & Eureka Springs. The train stopped so we could flatten coins on the rails. Even better: We were on the same train as the lunch ride, but we got to hear/do these things for less money & at the same time! (9/7/06)
